This film follows Pål Ryggs efforts to realize his vision of winning the bicycle race "Den store styrkeprøven".
It all started with a broken marriage, and an obese body. It was the right time to set some ambitious goals and positive thoughts. Through countless hours of hard training, he slowly got his body in shape and several friends joined him in his efforts. In June 2005, 11 months later, the team of 30 persons crossed the finishing line in Oslo, 14 hours after they left Trondheim 540 km's further north.
When we started the filming in the spring of 2006, the team counted 70 people. The 2nd place from last year was history. This time they went for gold. The average age within the team is close to 40 and the training must be squeezed in between work and family life. What makes ordinary men put this much effort into something like this?
We followed their struggle through cycling in the snow, in the spring, training in Italy and eventually the ultimate goal, the race at the end of June. This clip is from training in Italy.
